Background

Data has increasingly emerged as a critical organisational asset for Regulated Entities (REs), underpinning business operations, customer service, financial reporting, regulatory compliance, risk management, and strategic decisionmaking. The rapid growth in digital financial services, interconnected fintech ecosystems, third-party arrangements, advanced analytics, and automated decision-making processes has significantly expanded the volume, velocity and complexity of data being generated, processed, shared and stored by REs. Consequently, the ability of REs to ensure the accuracy, availability, confidentiality, consistency, integrity, and traceability of data across systems and business functions has assumed heightened importance.

Against this backdrop, RBI has issued the ‘Guidance on Regulatory Expectations for Data Governance’ in the Regulated Entities (REs) in July 2026 so as to enable the REs to put in place a robust Data Governance Framework (DGF) for effective management of all the emerging risks they are exposed to. The One-day Virtual Program will discuss about the issues and challenges for effective implementation of DGF, Single Source of Truth(SSOT), Data Risk management, Data Life Cycle Management and compliance with DPDP Rules,2025.

Objective

The objective of the program is to empower the senior officers and Board Members of Banks, NBFCs and FIs involved in laying down a strong Data Governance Framework (DGF) in their organisation; so that it becomes the foundational architecture for RE’s Risk Management system which is constantly exposed to cyber-attacks, tech-disruptions and breach of confidential Data of customers. Further, the Expected Credit Loss (ECL) framework which is going to be mandatory from April 1,2027 will face major road blocks unless the Data Governance Framework is successfully implemented.

Program Highlights

The program will deal with the following topics:

  • Mapping of Roles & Responsibilities for DGF
  • Single Source of Truth (SSOT) & Data Risk Management
  • Data Protection & Data Privacy concerns & preventions
  • Data Life Cycle Management
  • Third-Party Risk Management
