With a view to strengthening corporate governance in Indian banks, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) released a discussion paper (DP) on ‘Governance in Commercial Banks in India’ last month. Among other things, the DP proposes to limit the tenure of CEOs; expand the role of the non-executive directors; strengthen the independence of risk, compliance, audit and vigilance functions; details the composition of the various sub-committees, etc.
The DP encourages wider discussions on its proposals and seeks stakeholder feedback. With this in background, CAFRAL is holding a 90 minutes long webinar:
Power Talks on Corporate Governance in Indian Commercial Banks
Speakers with rich experience on Boards of banks will reflect on some of key proposals of the DP at 6 pm on July 27, 2020. Participants will have opportunity to ask questions and/or offer their comments on the draft proposals.
